After 22 episodes it is the American public that will vote for their favorite couple to win the first season of the show. After the episode on Tuesday night, viewers will have to log in to the Love Island app to vote for who they want to crown as winners. Based on those votes, the winning couple will take home $100,000 dollars. There are some MAJOR downsides however, and all come from the production. There are a couple cast members that are so overly produced that it's obvious they're playing a character. Also they have these "challenges" that are good for absolutely nothing.
Also during the show some cast get wayyyyy more screen time than others, which isn't fair at all considering how the public votes for which couples they want to stay. An example is the "random" dates some of the couple's get to go on. From what I've seen only the fan favorites get to go on these dates, in turn getting them more screen time, and more public votes at the end of the day. How are we supposed to vote for someone we forget is there? Another thing is the randomness of the "Re-Coupling" as they call it.
A good example is when a new girl came in and got to pick her partner before most of the other girls, which in turn caused one of the girls that had been there longer to quit. Another small thing, not that big a deal, but production making the cast freak out when they get a text "I GOT A TEXXXT!!!, is so obviously stolen from The Challenges' "I GOT A CLUEEEEE!! " That they would make them do over there. They're way more annoying about it on here, and should tone it down just a tad. At the end of the day, Love Island USA is about finding true love; some couples walked away in a relationship or flirtation, but none seemed like they'll last long outside of the Villa.
This season ended with friendships, shaky relationships, or couples pretending to be in love to win the money. Josh and Shannon abruptly quit due to a family emergency, and if they hadn't left, they most likely would've won due to their strong romance. If they want any shot of lasting, Shannon needs to trust Josh and stop villainizing everything he does—they have different love languages, and if they can't communicate, the resentment will destroy their foundation. Cinco and Cashay left the Villa separately, but they've since reconnected outside in the real world. Cinco needs to be honest and stick with Cashay if he wants the romance to work; the indecision won't fly outside of the game.

Also upstairs is a room with four vanities and a balcony where the women could get ready. Areas of the villa, including its garden, collectively contain 3,000 locally sourced plants. Over a mile of neon lights are strung around parts of the villa. Love Island is a reality television program in which a group of contestants, who are referred to as "Islanders", are living in a villa in Fiji. The Islanders are cut off from the outside world and are under constant video surveillance.
To survive in the villa, the Islanders must be in a relationship with another Islander. The "islanders" live together 24/7 and must "couple up" in order to stay on the show, sometimes playing goofy games but mostly lounging around the pool by day and partying by night. Those who don't find a connection and couple up may be "dumped" from the island, and sexy new islanders appear to take their place. However, the US version already shows signs of a "Survivor"-style dog fight. And American viewers may struggle with the idea that television love isn't always a knock-out contest. With the same islanders staying in, the storylines of Love Island USA fell into a never-ending loop of sameness. The Cashay/Cinco/Trina love triangle was fun at first due to the drama of Cinco's uncertainty, but it shouldn't have lasted for three-quarters of the season.
Throwing Charlie, Leslie, and Lei-Yen into the mix only delayed the inevitable—this storyline became emotionally exhausting. Everything dragged on—it wasn't fun or interesting anymore. The third season of Love Island USA was boring, and that's the worst thing you can be for a guilty pleasure series like Love Island. Since this is the first season of the show in the U.S., we don't know how exactly the finale will play out but in the U.K.
When the announcer confirms who the winning couple is, they are handed an envelope that contains their winnings; one has a value of $0 and the other will have the value of $100,000. There are four couples that have made it to the final after America voted and dumped off the island Kyra Green and Jered Youngblood. Korey Gandy was such a lovable contestant on season 3 that he ended up winning the grand prize, despite going several weeks without a real romance. Limited to platonic friendships for weeks on end, Korey's affable attitude and loving brotherly vibe forced the islanders and TV voters to keep him on the island from day 1 to day 40.
If they could just fine tune some things and make it actually somewhat fair, it would be way better. Two guys and a girl, then 2 girls and a guy, so during the coupling ceremony they can also alternate from girls picking, to guys picking instead of girls picking two or three times in a row. Also the winner of the challenge should either be the one that wins the date and/or decide the order that the islanders get to pick their dates. Make the challenges mean something and let the cast pick the order they get to pick their dates, and alternate from guys to girls at every coupling ceremony. I know the English version is new so hopefully it'll learn from it's mistakes.
I mean, Big Brother and Survivor started out shaky but got better so I'm hopeful this will too. Week 4On Day 20, the islanders re-coupled, with it being girls choice. Aissata picked Yamen, Alexandra picked Dylan, Caro picked Ray, Elizabeth picked Zac, Emily picked Weston and Kyra picked Jered.
As Kelsey chose to leave the villa, both Eric and Anton were left single and dumped from the island. Eric Thurm of The A.V. Club called the series "pure chaotic evil" and said, "Love Island is about a bunch of hot people sitting by a pool bonding over the fact that they have nothing to do". Thurm also said the pacing is too quick, with Islanders doing nothing and everything in the same episode. Reviewing the first five episodes, Kathryn VanArendonk of Vulture stated "Love Island is boring, but hard to escape", but Ben Travers of IndieWire opined that the contestants were bland.
